Pearl Ex creates a metallic look without being a metal. The particles are flat platelets with two surfaces, therefore it lays down beautifully like a thin coating of metal. The different particle sizes produce different looks — from a fine, smooth, pearly luster to a highly metallic sheen.

It is a safe, non-toxic, inert powdered pigment with a neutral pH. It is extremely color fast and stable — it will not tarnish or fade and is therefore ideal for archival applications.

Pearl Ex is definitely a unique product to work with. Recently, I was at a class where we made cards using Pearl Ex and glue. White school glue. We took the school glue and spread it on the sheet of paper (with a stipple brush) then sprinkled a little pearl ex powder onto the glue - stippled that also. Finally used an embossing gun to heat it up (melt it). It created a very unique look. We also added some shimmer to our stamped image by taking a blender pen and dipping the tip on the lid of the pearl ex and colouring a little in the image.

We offer the Pearl Ex powders to be purchased individually so you can buy just the colours you like or just one or two to see if you like it. At only $2.45 CAD each it's a great buy for a great product.
